Cornelius Real Estate

    Welcome to Cornelius!

Just 20 miles north of Charlotte on the shores of Lake Norman lies the city of Cornelius. Enjoying a charming downtown, rich history, gorgeous parks and many waterfront communities, this Mecklenburg County town was originally established as a mill and farm community in 1905.

Old Town Cornelius describes the part of town east of I-77. Despite the area’s rapid growth, it has maintained its original charm and is one of Lake Norman’s cultural arts destinations. Old Town Cornelius is home to many local shops, artists, small businesses, eclectic restaurants and breweries. A new 128-acre smart-growth community, Antiquity, offers small town living combined with the day to day conveniences of city life, with sidewalks connecting the neighborhoods to retail areas. Bailey’s Glen, an active adult retirement community with custom homes and virtually any activity that comes to mind is also located nearby.

The west side of I-77 Cornelius rests on the shores of Lake Norman with 70 miles of incredible waterfront property and many diverse neighborhoods offering lake access and deeded boat slips. The Peninsula community, home to some of the area’s most luxurious homes, covers 11 miles of Lake Norman shoreline. Also here is the Rees Jones designed Golf Course at The Peninsula Club, a private country club with superior amenities that include a Clubhouse and a Swim and Tennis Complex. The Peninsula Yacht Club is nearby and is a premier location for lakefront dining and offers organized boating and year-round social events.

Home to ten public parks, the town boasts opportunities for many recreational activities. One of the area’s most popular parks is Jetton Park. This 104-acre lakefront park features picnic sites, lighted tennis courts, walking trails, sunning beach (no swimming), and playgrounds.

Ramsey Creek Park, one of the few public beaches on Lake Norman is also located in Cornelius. This 43.7-acre waterfront park has a swimming beach, boat launch, docks, dog park, fishing pier, picnic shelters, walking trails, volleyball and a playground.

This beautiful lakeside town affords residents a laidback lifestyle in a cheerful community with top-ranked schools, proximity to Charlotte and what many consider to be perfect weather. With its various shopping centers, extensive selection of incredible restaurants and lakeside parks, Cornelius is a town that simply can’t be beat!
